Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method, which give a simple but effective technology for communication an overhead message in a wireless communication system supplying access to a distributed network while band width is saved and power consumption is set to be minimum. SOLUTION: A wireless base station connected to the distributed network transmits a series of signatures in the overhead message to a mobile unit. The mobile unit wakes up and receives the signatures and compares them with a signatures stored in the mobile unit. When the signatures received by the mobile unit differ from the signatures stored in the mobile unit, the mobile unit receives the overhead message transmitted by the wireless base station while it is kept wake up. When the signatures received by the mobile unit are the same as those stored in the mobile unit, the mobile unit returns to sleep.
