To provide a method of starting a fuel cell system and the fuel cell system surely protecting the fuel cell from such a phenomenon deteriorating cells constituting the fuel cell at starting the fuel cell system with simple structure and starting process.
The method of starting the fuel cell system comprises a process of operating a fuel cell protection means based on an output of one cell out of the cells constituting the fuel cell after starting supply of fuel to the fuel cell, when starting the fuel cell system provided with the fuel cell, the fuel cell protection means, and a voltage conversion device, a process of starting the voltage conversion device basing on a signal transmitted from the fuel cell protection means after the fuel cell protection means is operated, and a process of switching the power supply to the fuel cell protection means to the output of the voltage conversion device after the voltage conversion device is operated.
