To solve the problem that it becomes necessary to charge the front curtain of a mechanical shutter and release time lag is caused when still image photography is attempted to be executed from a state that a subject is observed by displaying image data continuously imaged by an imaging element on a video image display circuit as moving images.

When the still image photography is performed from the state that the subject is observed by displaying the moving images on the video image display circuit, exposure time of the imaging element is controlled by using reset scanning of the imaging element and the rear curtain of the mechanical shutter.
