To reduce a code amount by improving efficiency for coding a compressed signal stream.
The coding method of the invention includes: a corresponding conversion candidate output step for analysis; a linear prediction step; a quantization step; a prediction value calculation step; a subtraction step; a coefficient coding step; a residue coding step; and an optimum selection step. The linear prediction step determines a linear prediction coefficient from a second signal stream for each candidate of corresponding conversion for analysis. The linear prediction step includes a linear corresponding sub-step for analysis and an analysis coefficient sub-step. The linear corresponding sub-step for analysis converts a second signal stream to a signal stream for analysis. The analysis coefficient sub-step determines a linear prediction coefficient by performing linear prediction analysis on the signal stream for analysis. The corresponding conversion candidate output step for analysis outputs a candidate of corresponding conversion for analysis in a predetermined process. The optimum selection step selects a prediction residue string or a prediction residue code which minimize a prediction value of the code amount or the code amount.
