Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint method for a lid of a battery case which has high productivity without the need for high accuracy at the time of producing the battery case and which can suppress the adverse effect due to welding heat.SOLUTION: A method for joining a lid 16 to a battery case body 12 uses a caulking mold 1 including a mold body 2 and cooling means 6 provided in the mold body, the mold body 2 having a caulking hole 3 formed therein, the caulking hole 3 having a taper part 5 of which the inner diameter is increased like a taper as going to the lower part and of which the upper end part inner diameter is smaller than the upper end part outer diameter of the battery case body 12. In the method, the battery case body 12 on which the lid 16 is placed is inserted in the caulking hole 3 from below until the upper end thereof is pressed toward the inner peripheral side thereof by the upper end of the taper part 5, and the upper end part of the battery case body 12 is pressed toward the inner peripheral side thereof by the inner wall of the caulking hole 3 so as to caulk the outer peripheral part of the lid 16, and in this state the contact part between the inner peripheral part of the upper end part of the battery case body 12 and the outer peripheral part in the lid 16 is joined by laser welding.
