An examination data generation device 6A includes: reception means 600 for receiving variable data including a plurality of records having item data for each of a plurality of items; examination item extraction means 601A for, based on the degree of variation in characteristic information of the item data in the plurality of records, extracting an item with a large degree of variation in characteristic information according to a predetermined rule from a plurality of items of the variable data, as an item to be examined; and examination data generation means 602 for generating examination data for examining a plurality of printed materials printed by applying a plurality of records to style definition data, based on the item to be examined and the style definition data.
