To generate operation information each time operation is detected by a terminal which operates a document without using a server, and to trace and manage a document derived by the operation history to a document, printing, scanning and copying.

Each document operation client 90 detects a user operation to a document; prepares and registers the operation information DOC of XML data having respective elements for recording an operation user, an operation date, and operation category, a hash value of the operation information DOC, and operation information identifier DID for the document in a history DB30; traces link information based on the operation information identifier DID, operation information DOC, and the operation information identifier DID of the operation information DOC in the previous generation recorded in the element of the operation information DOC registered in the history DB30; and displays a document operation history image 416 on which a document derived from the operation history to the document, copying, printing and scanning is shown as a tree structure.
