To provide a fuel cell system in which a starting-up time is shortened.
The fuel cell system includes a DMFC (Direct Methanol Fuel Cell) stack which supplies a methanol solution of a predetermined concentration from an anode side and supplies air of a predetermined air volume from a cathode side and generates power of a rated voltage by their chemical reaction, a mixing tank which stores a methanol solution of higher concentration than a predetermined concentration supplied from the anode side in accordance with a starting up of operation of the DMFC stack, and an air pump which supplies an air volume less than the predetermined air volume from the cathode side. It is desirable that, in response to a start up of operation of the DMFC stack, an air volume of a blower for cooling the methanol solution of a concentration higher than the predetermined concentration is controlled so that a temperature of the solution may be higher than a predetermined temperature.
