To solve the following problem in an infrared imaging apparatus: an output signal level of an imaging device varies by self-heating or variation of ambient temperature, so that an output signal of the imaging device becomes out of a dynamic range of A/D conversion and an image is no longer obtained if the output signal is left as it is.
The A/D conversion is performed after subtracting correction signals (GD, GA) set so that the output signal of the imaging device (3) is settled in the dynamic range of an A/D converter (5) from an imaging signal (IN). Different correction signals may be set at a part of a valid pixel and a part of an invalid pixel. When a shutter is at a shielded state, the correction signal (GD) is acquired, and after the correction signal (GD) is established, fixed pattern noise (FPN) is acquired.
