To provide a method for recovering a high purity ruthenium from a low concentrated ruthenium-contained material containing many elements except the ruthenium.
This method for recovering the high purity ruthenium is performed through the following processes: an alkali-fusing process, in which the ruthenium-contained material is heated together with the alkali to obtain the alkali-fused solution; a wetting type leaching process, in which this alkali-fused solution is cooled to obtain an alkali-fused block and after adding the water to obtain the leaching solution, a ruthenium-dissolved solution is obtained by separating solid and liquid; a wetting type partial reducing process, in which a reducing agent is further added into this ruthenium-dissolved solution till the oxidation-reduction electric potential becomes in the range of 50-120 mV to remove impurities by separating solid and liquid; a wetting type reducing process by further adding the reducing agent to the ruthenium-dissolved solution where the impurities have been removed till the oxidation-reduction electric potential becomes in the range of 30 to -300 mV to generate a ruthenium hydroxide; and a heating reduction process, in which this ruthenium hydroxide is heated in the reducing atmosphere to obtain the metallic ruthenium.
