To provide an impervious woven fabric which is lightweight, has a high strength, little stitch opening of a seam, and can give highly air-tight air bags.

The woven fabric for air bags has an impervious material on at least one side, and has a total fineness of not less than 350 dtex, comprises fiber yarns having a strength of not less than 9 cN/dtex, a cover factor (CF) of not more than 800, a basis weight of not more than 190 g/m2, a tensile strength of not less than 700 N/cm, a strength index of not less than 0.875 obtained by dividing the tensile strength by the cover factor, and a degree of a woven fabric seam-opening of not more than 3 mm on the basis of JISL-1096 (8.21.1A method).
