Abstract:

To provide a cylinder-injection type spark-ignition internal combustion engine forming good stratified air fuel mixture by fuel injected from a fuel injection valve without requiring a cavity on a piston top surface.

This cylinder-injection type spark-ignition internal combustion engine includes a fuel injection valve 2 disposed at an intake port 3 side at a circumference of a cylinder upper part, and a spark plug 1 disposed at roughly center of the cylinder upper part, and has tumble flow going down along an exhaust port side of a cylinder bore by intake air sucked in a cylinder during an intake stroke and going up along an intake port side formed in the cylinder. In the cylinder-injection type spark-ignition internal engine, the fuel injection valve injects fuel toward the neighborhood of a boundary P of the piston 5 top surface and the exhaust port 4 side of the piston bore in a last half of a compression stroke for executing stratified combustion.
