To provide an object retrieval device which can, even when a plurality of words as the reference of retrieval are included in information as retrieval conditions, and words showing abstract language expressions showing geographical characteristics are related with some of the words, perform detailed retrieval based on information included in the retrieval conditions.
Unique names included in document information for retrieval and abstract language expressions showing geographical characteristics are extracted, and on the basis of the dependency of the abstract language expressions on the unique names, one or more combinations of the unique names and the abstract language expressions having the dependency are specified, and a retrieval range on a map with respect to the unique names included in the combinations for each of the combinations is determined based on the abstract language expressions corresponding to the unique names, and the final retrieval range, whose retrieval object is the final unique name appearing in the tail end of the document information for retrieval, is determined based on the retrieval range corresponding to the unique name having no dependency and the retrieval range for each of the combinations, and the retrieval object is retrieved from the final retrieval range.
