To save water during washing and to reduce power consumption during drying.
A drum-type washing and drying machine, which washes, spin-dries and dries the clothing in the rotary drum, includes: a rotary drum for storing clothing; a motor for driving the rotary drum; an outer tank for storing the rotary drum; a housing for supporting the outer tank; and an inclination angle varying mechanism provided with a means to deliver warm wind into the rotary drum and capable of tilting the central axis of rotation of the rotary drum with respect to the horizontal direction to vary the inclination angle of the central axis of rotation of the rotary drum. When temporarily stopping the drying operation by varying the inclination angle of the central axis of rotation of the rotary drum during drying, the machine restores the inclination angle of the rotary drum to the original angle.
