To provide a permanent magnet type rotor which can improve an output torque at low power, and an electric motor comprising the permanent magnet type rotor.
The electric motor 1' comprises the rotor 2', and a stator 3 which is arranged so as to abut on the external periphery of the rotor 2'. The rotor 2' is composed of a rotor core 21 and permanent magnet groups 22A, 22B composed of a plurality of permanent magnet pieces 221, 222 which are alternately arranged at the external periphery of the rotor core 21 in the circumferential direction at an equal interval. In the permanent magnet groups 22A, 22B, an auxiliary iron core 23 is arranged between the adjacent permanent magnet pieces 221, 222. Furthermore, a fixing member 24 for wrapping and fixing the permanent magnet pieces 221, 222 is arranged around each of the permanent magnet piece 221, 222. The fixing member 24 is fixed to the rotor core 21 by engaging fixing parts 24a, 24b of the fixing member 24 with an engagement groove 21a of the rotor core 21 and an engagement groove 23a of the auxiliary iron core 23.
