Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position retrieval system which operates on a Web, and which retrieves a target position or area only with ambiguous information even when there is no accurate information.SOLUTION: An ambiguous information index database 4 is prepared that has tables hierarchized to specify an area including a target from ambiguous information that ambiguously expresses a target. When ambiguous information expressing an arbitrary target is input by an ambiguous information input device 22 of a client 2, the ambiguous information is transmitted via a network 8 to a server 1, and the table relating to the ambiguous information is selected from the ambiguous information index database 4 by an information analysis device 11 of the server 1, and the selected table is retrieved by using the ambiguous information by an area retrieval device 12. Thus, the area including the target and coordinates can be retrieved and displayed by an area display device 21 of the client 2.
