Abstract:

To prevent the deterioration of emission even if evaporated fuel is purged to an intake system from a canister 15 when lean burn operation is performed, using hydrogen as fuel, in an engine 1 performing stoichiometric operation using fuel including gasoline and lean burn operation using hydrogen fuel.

During stoichiometric operation using the fuel including gasoline, HC, CO and NOx in exhaust gas are eliminated by a three-way catalyst 22. During lean burn operation using hydrogen fuel, HC which cannot be eliminated by the three-way catalyst 22 caused by the purge of evaporated fuel in exhaust gas to an intake system is adsorbed by a HC adsorbent, and oxidized and eliminated by an oxidation catalyst 23.
