Abstract:

To provide a material that can form a liquid crystal structure such as a bicontinuous cubic structure in a self organizing manner and moreover exhibits an excellent shape retaining property when used as an ion conductor.

There are provided a specific (tri-substituted-oxy-benzenealkyl)trialkylammonium compound, wherein at least one of the three substituted oxy groups each respectively binding to the 3, 4, and 5 positions of a benzene ring is an alkadienyloxy group or an alkadiynyloxy group, or its corresponding phosphonium compound. There are also provided a polymer produced by polymerizing the compounds or salts thereof by virtue of the constituent polymerizable groups included therein, having a bicontinuous cubic liquid crystal structure, and an electrolyte material including the polymer. Thereby, a polymer film material comprising ionic nanochannels continuous in micrometer-order can be made available, which is expected to be used in developing a solid electrolyte having high ion conductivity and in a size-selective ion permeation membrane or the like.
