Abstract:
To provide a catalyst layer for a fuel cell having catalyst ability which is equivalent to or greater than that of a catalyst layer for the fuel cell independently made of platinum and is low cost.
The catalyst layer 5' for the fuel cell has a layer 1, containing metal carbon-nitrogen oxide and a layer 2 containing platinum. A mass ratio (metal carbon-nitrogen oxide/platinum) per unit area of the metal carbon-nitrogen oxide in the layer 1 and the platinum in the layer 2 is desirable to be 2-500. Furthermore, mass per unit area of the platinum in the layer 2 is preferably in the range of 0.005-0.2 mg/cm
