Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To switch a pixel addition method when the pixels are added, by two pixel addition methods.SOLUTION: The first pixel addition driving mode (steps S1, S2, S5 to S11) for individually reading picked up image signals corresponding to respective detection charges of two photoelectric conversion elements constituting a pair of pixels where adjacent same color filters are laminated, by a signal reading circuit, and adding the signals by a signal processing circuit, and the second pixel addition driving mode (steps S1, S2, S3, and S4) for mixing the respective detection charges of the two photoelectric conversion elements of the pair of pixels and reading the picked up image signals corresponding to an amount of the mixed charges, by the signal reading circuit, are switched in accordance with a photographing state when a subject image is photographed by an imaging element.
