Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy storage device which can restrain unwanted energy consumption while equalizing voltage of each cell.SOLUTION: A spare cell 7 which performs cell balance of main cells 21 to 24 is provided apart from the main cells 21 to 24 which performs electric charge and discharge. The spare cell 7 is configured to be connected in parallel separately from the main cells 21 to 24. A control circuit 51 connects the spare cell 7 to the main cells 21 to 24 sequentially by controlling each switch of a switch part 4 when the main cells 21 to 24 are not performing electric charge or discharge so that the spare cell 7 charges the main cells 21 to 24. Thus, the voltages of the main cells 21 to 24 can be equalized.
