PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relay device, a control method therefor, a program and a content management system, capable of reducing the load on the Internet network.SOLUTION: An HGW 21 includes a content acquisition unit 11, a memory 12, and a content transmission unit 13. The content acquisition unit 11 acquires a content from a content distribution server through the Internet network in response to a distribution request from a first user terminal. The memory 12 stores the content acquired by the content acquisition unit 11. The content transmission unit 13 transmits the content stored in the memory 12 to another HGW in response to a distribution request from a second user terminal connected under the other HGW connected to the Internet network.
