Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spent fuel transporting method with which transporting work can be implemented safely by suppressing the generation of hydrogen within a cask when transporting a spent fuel in a nuclear power plant.SOLUTION: In a wet cask used for work of transporting a spent fuel from a fuel pool, just after the spent fuel is loaded to the cask, a reductant equivalent to a sum of a concentration of oxygen dissolved in water retained in the cask and a parallel concentration of hydrogen determined by a dose rate of radiation generated from the spent fuel being transported is added to water within the cask.
