Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet compression apparatus that prevents the occurrence of feeding failure of a sheet without applying an unnecessary load to a driving system and suppresses deterioration in quality of an image formed on a sheet, and an image forming apparatus including the sheet compression apparatus.SOLUTION: A sheet compression apparatus is disposed between a sheet feeding unit 2 for feeding sheets and an image forming unit 4 for forming images, and includes a compression roller 30 and an opposing roller 31 that have a predetermined gap between them to form a sheet passage part 39 for passing sheets. When a sheet thicker than the predetermined gap passes through the sheet passage part 39, the sheet is pressed by the compression roller 30 and the opposing roller 31.
