Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermocouple fixation method which allows for conducting temperature measurement without allowing thermocouples provided in cells of a honeycomb structure to be displaced, does not let the thermocouples to obstruct a flow of gas, and makes measurements free from uneven deposition of tin when mounted in an engine.SOLUTION: A first thermocouple 1 is placed in a cell 14 of a honeycomb structure 10 from a side of an outflow end face 12 thereof. This is followed by: inserting a first end 3a of a thermocouple fixation wire 3, which is shorter than the first thermocouple 1, into the cell 14 from the side of the outflow end face 12 to be placed side-by-side with the thermocouple 1 leaving a second end 3b outside the cell; or arranging the first thermocouple 1 and a second thermocouple, located in the same cell 14 as the first thermocouple 1 or in a different cell 14, next to each other outside the outflow end face 12; and coupling the first thermocouple 1 with the thermocouple fixation wire 3 or the second thermocouple using a coupling member 2, sized such that even a portion thereof cannot enter the cell 14 when the coupling is done, and placing the coupling member 2 at a position to be in contact with the outflow end face 12.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A
