Abstract:

The present invention provides a method for producing a glass substrate for magnetic disks, which is capable of performing highly clean cleaning without deteriorating smooth surface roughness as much as possible, said smooth surface roughness having been obtained by fine polishing. In the present invention, cleaning of a plurality of glass substrates, which contain sodium and/or potassium in the glass component and have mirror polished main surfaces, is carried out using a cleaning liquid that contains an alkaline agent that does not contain sodium and potassium, while maintaining such conditions under which the total concentration of sodium ions and potassium ions in the cleaning liquid is 4.00 × 10-3 mol/L or less.
