Abstract:
An object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing PPE which can greatly reduce troubles such as an increase in fine powder, scale adhesion in a precipitation tank, occurrence amount of transient products at the time of change of a brand, and efficiently obtain PPE With the goal. The process for producing PPE of the present invention comprises a polymerization step of oxidatively polymerizing a phenolic compound in a polymerization solution containing a good solvent of PPE and a catalyst to obtain a PPE mixed solution. The PPE mixed solution, a poor solvent of PPE and water are added to a precipitation tank having a stirrer and mixed to precipitate PPE to obtain a slurry liquid containing PPE particulates. In the precipitation step, the poor solvent of the PPE and the water are added to the precipitation tank through different pipes and the water is in an amount of 0.05 to 30 mass% based on 100 mass% of the poor solvent of the PPE.
