PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To express effective light emphasis by automatically applying a process according to the features of a light spot on an image.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes: extraction means for extracting a high luminance area exceeding a predetermined luminance value from target image data; effect selection means which, in accordance with the features of the high luminance area extracted by the extraction means, selects one of a plurality of image effect processes for applying a predetermined image effect on the target image data; processing means which applies the image effect process selected by the effect selection means on the target image data to generate a processed image data; and reproduction means which reproduces the processed image data generated by the processing means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
