Abstract:
Provided is a natural gas engine 10 in which a natural gas C and a self-ignitable fuel F that is different from the natural gas are used, and the natural gas C is combusted by compression ignition of the self-ignitable fuel F within a cylinder, wherein: the natural gas engine is provided with a main fuel injection device 35 for the natural gas C and a self-ignitable fuel injection device 69 for the self-ignitable fuel; and a heat insulating material 63a is used only for a piston 63 to cover either at least a part or the entirety of a combustion chamber of the piston 63, or the piston 63 is formed of the heat insulating material 63a.
