Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for visualizing an appearance frequency of fields and words/phrases of periodical publication articles in a temporally extendable/contractible manner, and thereby facilitate presenting an overview of trends of social phenomena in an article database of periodical publication such as newspapers and magazines.SOLUTION: A method for presenting transitions in article contents of periodical publication over a predetermined period of time on a computer screen by highlighting a period instructed by a viewer, includes the steps of: (1) counting an appearance frequency at which a matter belonging to a predetermined item of a predetermined category table appears in article contents, in each predetermined time block, for the article contents of the periodical publication; (2) displaying the appearance frequency for each of the predetermined items along a temporal axis with a color map on the computer screen; and (3) when the period of time instructed by the viewer is updated, tabulating the appearance frequency by using a result of the counting, and then displaying the appearance frequency for each of the predetermined items along the temporal axis with the color map on the computer screen.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
