Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical electric field sensor of simple structure having high sensitivity.SOLUTION: An optical electric field sensor has a dielectric, a substance provided on the dielectric and having electrooptic effects, and a conductor provided on the substance having the electrooptic effects and having a gap formed, and is used by causing light totally reflected by a boundary surface between the substance having the electrooptic effects and the gap and light reflected by a boundary surface between the dielectric and the substance having the electrooptic effects to interfere with each other. Then the optical electric field sensor may further has an antenna on the conductor. An electromagnetic field detecting method using the optical electric field sensor comprises: introducing light into the substance having the electrooptic effects from the opposite side to the conductor so that the light is totally reflected by the boundary surface between the substance having the electrooptic effects and the conductor; and detecting interference light between the light reflected by the boundary surface between the dielectric and the substance having the electrooptic effects and the light reflected by the boundary surface between the dielectric and the substance having the electrooptic effects so as to detect an electric field applied to the gap of the conductor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
