Abstract:
A precoding matrix indicator feedback method, a precoding matrix indicator receiving method, and a terminal device are provided. The feedback method includes: determining a rank indication (101), determining a precoding matrix in a precoding matrix set corresponding to the rank indication (102), determining a first precoding matrix indicator, a second precoding matrix indicator, and a third precoding matrix indicator that are used to indicate the precoding matrix (103), and sending, by UE, a rank, the first precoding matrix indicator, the second precoding matrix indicator, and the third precoding matrix indicator to a base station (104). A quantity of to-be-selected vectors is greatly reduced by using first-stage feedback and second-stage feedback, thereby reducing calculation complexity of third-stage feedback, and reducing a quantity of bits in the third-stage feedback. A quantity of bits for feeding back a precoding matrix indicator is reduced while a system performance requirement is satisfied, thereby balancing system performance and feedback overheads of a terminal device.
