Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently decrease noise components in an edgeless part while preventing edges of an image from becoming unclear in an image processing device which performs process of reducing noise components of a medical image.SOLUTION: The image processing device includes first smoothing means for applying smoothing process to tha image along an edge extension direction to generate a first smoothed image, second smoothing means for applying smoothing process to tha image or the whole of the first smoothed image to generate a second smoothed image, first feature quantity extraction means for extracting a first feature quantity from the image and the first smoothed image, second feature quantity extraction means for extracting a second feature quantity from the first smoothed image and the second smoothed image, index value calculation means for calculating a prescribed index value from the first feature quantity and the second feature quantity, and composed image generation means for generating a composed image comprising pixels of new signal values by calculating new signal values by using signal values of pixels of at least the image, the first smoothed image and the second smoothed image based on the index value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
