To provide a chemical thermal storage medium that performs thermal storage using the dehydration reaction of hydroxides of alkaline earth metals, wherein, the thermal storage can be realized at lower temperature.SOLUTION: A chemical thermal storage medium is a composite compound comprising alkaline earth metals, transition metals, and alkali metals. In the composite compound, the content of transition metals is 1-40 mol% relative to the content of alkaline earth metals.
