Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology that can improve calculation accuracy of cathode potential while considering a memory effect in a battery system including an alkaline secondary battery.SOLUTION: ECU 30 calculates hydrogen concentration inside a cathode active material from a cathode open-circuit potential Uand an anode open-circuit potential Uby using a battery model for estimating an internal behavior of a single cell 11, including as an input an inter-terminal voltage V of a single cell 11 that is a nickel-hydrogen battery. The ECU 30 calculates, from the hydrogen concentration, an amount of memory that is an amount of change in potential of the cathode open-circuit potential Ucaused by a memory effect from an initial potential E. When the hydrogen concentration changes, the ECU 30 calculates a reduction in the amount of memory associated with the change in hydrogen concentration from the amount of memory M before the change in hydrogen concentration and the time elapsed from the change in hydrogen concentration, and calculates the cathode open-circuit potential Uby using the initial potential Eand the amount of memory M after the reduction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
