Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect edges of characters that can be expressed in various forms.SOLUTION: Using first image data, it is judged whether or not a specific type of judgment condition is satisfied. A judgment condition of a specific type indicates that a first target pixel is within a low luminance region in which a plurality of pixels are continuous. Using second image data generated by using the first image data and including a value obtained by inverting a value of a corresponding pixel of the first image data, it is judged whether or not a judgment condition of a specific type is satisfied. Smoothed data is generated without smoothing N1 pixels corresponding to at least one of a plurality of pixels in a first image that satisfies a judgement condition of a specific type and a plurality of pixels in a second image that satisfies a judgement condition of a specific type among M pixels in a target image and edge pixels are specified using the smoothed data.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 17
