Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a catalyst paste composition for a solid polymer fuel cell which enables the suppression of agglomeration of a catalyst by dispersing a platinum-supporting catalyst together with a water absorptive polymer and in addition, allows the performance of the catalyst to be drawn out efficiently by construction of an ideal three-phase interface of a catalyst layer of a solid polymer fuel cell; and a catalyst ink composition.SOLUTION: The above problem is solved by a catalyst paste composition for a solid polymer-type fuel cell, which comprises a platinum-supporting catalyst, a water absorptive polymer and a solvent. In the catalyst paste composition for a solid polymer-type fuel cell, the water absorptive polymer has a weight-average molecular weight of 1,000 or more and less than 1,000,000. The water absorptive polymer is a particular polymer; and the content of the water absorptive polymer is 0.1 pt.mass or more and 3 pts.mass or less to 1 pt.mass of the platinum-supporting catalyst.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
