Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crawler crane capable of reducing the longitudinal length of a lower traveling body as compared with a conventional one while keeping a lifting capability of the crane constant regardless of the turning position of an upper turning body and a method of using the crawler crane.SOLUTION: A crawler crane 1 includes an upper turning body including a working device and a lower traveling body 3. The lower traveling body 3 includes a car body, a crawler unit 34, and a gravity center adjusting weight 80. The distance from a reference surface P passing a turning axis RC to a first front roller 70A of the crawler unit 34 and the distance from the reference surface P to a first rear roller 72A are set to be equal. The gravity center adjusting weight 80 applies a load to the side of an idler roller 64 rather than the reference surface P of the lower traveling body 3 by which a center of gravity CG of the lower traveling body 3 positioned at the side of a sprocket 62 rather than the reference surface P becomes close to the reference surface P by the weight of a driving mechanism 60.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
