Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particle beam treatment device which emits an electric-charged particle beam having small beam size by a scanning method to improve radiation-dose concentration to an irradiation target, and an energy modulation device used for the same.SOLUTION: A ridge filter 7 used for a particle beam treatment device 10 which transfers the electric-charged particle beam taken out from an accelerator 1 by a beam transfer line 2, and emits the beam using scanning electromagnets 4, 5. There are provided a plurality of unit structural bodies 7a having a stair-like steps on a side face 7c, the unit structural bodies being directed in the same direction and provided densely on the same plane with bottom surfaces 7d thereof being adjacent to each other. An installation interval PI of the unit structural bodies 7a is smaller than a beam size W of the electric-charged particle beam to be scanned.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
