Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing an optical film that includes an optically anisotropic film that has excellent reverse wavelength dispersion, excellent wet-heat resistance, and reduced alignment defects. The present invention also addresses the problem of providing: a polarizing plate that uses the optical film; and an image display device that uses the optical film or the polarizing plate. This optical film includes, in order: an optically anisotropic film that is formed from a polymerizable liquid crystal composition; a photoalignment film; and a polymer support body. The polymerizable liquid crystal composition includes polymerizable liquid crystal compounds that have a prescribed structure. The weight average of the CLogP values of the liquid crystal compounds included in the polymerizable liquid crystal composition is 10.0–20.0. The photoalignment film is formed from a thermally crosslinkable photoalignment film formation composition. The photoalignment film formation composition includes a photoalignable copolymer that includes a photoalignable repeating monomer that has a prescribed structure and a thermally crosslinkable repeating monomer that has a prescribed structure. The thermally crosslinkable group equivalent of the photoalignable copolymer is 340–500.
