Abstract:
To provide an apparatus and a method for manufacturing an optical fiber ribbon that enable both high-speed manufacture and cost reduction in manufacturing an intermittently-coupled type optical fiber ribbon.SOLUTION: An apparatus for manufacturing an optical fiber ribbon includes: a hollow member 31 with a tip thereof opened; a drive mechanism 32 that drives the hollow member 31 in a direction perpendicular to a pass line with the tip 31b of the hollow member 31 oriented toward the pass line; and an adhesion resin supplying part 33 for continuously supplying an adhesion resin 12 to the hollow member 31. The drive mechanism 32 vertically moves the hollow member 31 between adjacent coated optical fibers so that the tip 31b of the hollow member 31 becomes upward or downward further than a contact position at which the adjacent coated optical fibers are in contact with each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5A
