Abstract:
To provide a liquid crystal device that has high heat resistance, reduces cell gap unevenness during folding, and is excellent in bending resistance, and a method for manufacturing the liquid crystal device.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal device comprises: one substrate; a plurality of joint spacers that are arranged between the one substrate and the other substrate opposed thereto, and are joined to at least one of the substrates; and a liquid crystal layer that fills a space defined by the one substrate, the other substrate, and the joint spacers, where the one substrate and the other substrate satisfy all of the following (1) to (5). (1) A bvalue in a Labcolor system at a thickness of 10 μm is 5 or less. (2) A phase difference value Rth in a thickness direction at a thickness of 10 μm and a wavelength of 550 nm is 200 nm or less. (3) The number of times of folding endurance in an MIT folding endurance test at a thickness of 10 μm, which is measured in conformity with JIS P8115, is 10,000 or more. (4) A glass transition temperature is 200°C or more. (5) A thickness is 50 μm or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3-1
