Abstract:
To provide steel for a carburized gear and a manufacturing method of a carburized gear that are able to manufacture a carburized gear excellent in strength against breaking caused by white-layer formation accompanying texture change in manufacturing a carburized gear by gas carburation hardening, and to provide a carburized gear excellent in strength against breaking caused by white-layer formation accompanying texture change.SOLUTION: Steel for a carburized gear is composed of C: 0.17-0.22%, Si: 0.50-1.00%, Mn: 0.20-0.60%, Cr: 1.35-2.00%, Mo: 0.20-0.40%, S: 0.001-0.050%, N: 0.005-0.020%, Al: 0.001-0.100%, Nb: 0.001-0.030%, O: 0.005% or less, P: 0.05% or less, and the balance: Fe and impurities. The steel for a carburized gear has a chemical composition where the total content of Mn and Cr satisfies expression (1) below (the symbols of elements in the expression (1) indicate each a content of the element). 1.95%≤Mn+Cr≤2.60% (1)SELECTED DRAWING: None
