Abstract:
To provide an arithmetic unit capable of detecting failure without significantly reducing utilization efficiency thereof.SOLUTION: An arithmetic unit for performing computation of multiplying an input value by a coefficient is provided, the arithmetic unit comprising a storage unit 2 configured to store a triple value of the coefficient, a multiplication unit 4 configured to multiply an input value with the triple value read from the storage unit, and a division unit 8 configured to divide a commutation result of the multiplication unit by 3. The arithmetic unit checks for an error in the computation result on the basis of whether or not the multiplication result of the multiplication unit is a multiple of 3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
