Abstract:
1. A process for the preparation of medium density ethylene polymers by bulk polymerization of ethylene or a mixture of ethylene and a small amount of comonomer, under pressures of at least 800 bars in the presence of a catalytic system containing an alkyl titanate and an alkyl-aluminium having the formula AIYx R(3-x) in which R is a C1 to C6 alkyl radical, x is a number ranging from 0 to 2.5 and Y is a halogen atom, said process being characterized in that the polymerisation is carried out at temperatures selected in the range of (theta - 40) degrees C to (theta + 38) degrees C, wherein theta = 150 + 30x.
