Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0250043
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To manufacture the titled compound having stability in the air and specific physical properties by converting an interlaminar potassium-graphite compound into a ternary interlaminar compound by a substitution reaction with a specified transition metal in tetrahydrofuran and by stabilizing the ternary compound in water. CONSTITUTION:An interlaminar potassium-graphite compound prepd. by reacting graphite with potassium under heating is brought into contact with a transition metal selected among Fe, Co, Ni, Mn, Cu, Mo, Cr, Zn, Ru, Pd and Pt in tetrahydrofuran or dimethoxyethane to form a ternary interlaminar compound contg. the transition metal and org. molecules dispersed uniformly between graphite laminae by a substitution reaction. The ternary compound is unstable and is rapidly decomposed when exposed to the air. The ternary compound is stabilized by immersion in water to manufacture a ternary residual compound consisting of a transition metal, graphite and org. molecules.
