Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a composite having a beautiful hue and excellent mechanical properties, by reinforcing a plastic or a metal with a hybrid fiber of a specified fiber with an inorganic fiber comprising a specified internal layer and a specified surface layer. CONSTITUTION:A hybrid fiber-reinforced composite wherein the reinforcement is a hybrid fiber of the following inorganic fiber with at least one fiber selected from among carbon, glass, boron, aramid and silicon carbide fibers having a carbon core, and the matrix is a plastic or a metal. Said inorganic fiber used is a fiber comprising an internal layer (a) comprising an inorganic substance containing Si, Ti or Zr, C and O, comprising an amorphous substance, etc. comprising Si, M, C and O and a surface layer (b) comprising an inorganic substance containing Si, Ti or Zr, O and, optionally, at most 5wt% C, comprising an aggregate, etc., of an amorphous substance comprising Si, M and O and crystalline SiO2 and MO2. In the formula, M is Ti or Zr.
