Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of signal transmission system and also detection of fault by supervising always a signal level in a serial transmission system and discriminating generation of an open wire in the transmission line when a prescribed condition is established. CONSTITUTION:A pad of a steering wheel is provided with a microcomputer 20 to transmit/receive a signal, decode a code and operate a display circuit. Moreover, an alarm circuit 28 raising an alarm to the driver when an open wire is detected, is provided. When an open wire exits in any transmission line, a signal input terminal of microcomputers 30, 20 goes to a low level. The level of the signal detected at the open wire is the same as the signal level of a request signal from other serial data transceiver. Thus, when the signal level equivalent to the request signal is detected at each microcomputer, an acknowledge signal is transmitted to the other serial data transceiver, and it is discriminated that an open wire is caused when a signal level at an input terminal is not inverted within a prescribed time after the acknowledge signal is outputted.
