Abstract:
PURPOSE:To simply separate and purify rare earth elements in a short time by densely packing a column with a fibrous ion exchanger contg. iminodiacetic acid groups and having high uniformity in shape, adsorbing rare earth metals on the ion exchanger and eluting them with an aqueous soln. of an inorg. acid. CONSTITUTION:A column is packed with a fibrous ion exchanger contg. >=1.5mmol/g iminodiacetic acid groups and having <=0.2 size uniformity range index at >=0.2g/ml density. Rare earth metals are adsorbed on the ion exchanger and eluted with an aqueous soln. of hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid to separate and purify rare earth elements. By this method, the rare earth elements can be separated by such simple operation in a short time without using a complex forming agent.
