Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent lowering of acceleration performance, by a method wherein a bypass valve is disposed between a turbo supercharger and a power turbine connected to the downstream side of the turbo supercharger, and the bypass valve is opened during rapid acceleration and deceleration of an engine to stop the drive of the power turbine. CONSTITUTION:The inlet of a power turbine 8 of a turbo charger 5 is connected to the downstream side of an exhaust pipe 4, and its outlet is connected to the inlet of a power turbine 12 through a connection pipe 9. A shaft 13 of the power turbine 12 is coupled to a crank shaft 19 of an engine 2 through a planetary gear reduction gear 14 and a fluid clutch 16. In this case, bypass valve 10 is located in the middle of the connection pipe 9, and during starting of the valve 10, exhaust gas is exhausted through a bypass pipe 20 directly to the outside. The bypass valve 10 is controlled by an electronic control device 36 so that it is opened when the fluctuation factor of the number of revolutions of an engine detected by a number of revolutions sensor 35 exceeds a given value, and the opening of the valve forces stop of the drive of the power turbine 12.
